For my paper I was thinking about writing about the gas prices in America. I think this is an important issue that needs to be addressed. I think I would start by saying how the Government is robbing us of our hard earned money and how they are playing games to trick us every time they lower the price.
I would tell about how people are waiting for it to go up and betting about when it does. I might make up something to try to be funny about how people are selling their cars because there is no need for them since nobody can afford gas. I would maybe talk about a man selling is body like prostitution for a tank of gas. I might mention the famous scene from Zoolander where they are having a gasoline price and when people watch it, they won’t be sad that the people died they will just talk about how much gas they wasted. I want to talk about people who fall for the trick and start to buy gas when the prices go down. They are the people who think the government is listening to them about gas prices. I might add something about when people rob gas stations they don’t want money or anything like that; they just want a full tank of gas. I will talk about how gas is used as an incentive to Americans. For example the news could say if you get out in vote we’re guaranteeing a full tank of gas. I could talk about how people are now always late everywhere they go because they don’t drive cars anymore. In the winter time nobody goes anywhere because it’s too cold and in the summer it is too hot.
This topic needs to be addressed because I feel it is a serious and unfair battle that Americans face. It seems that we can only do so much. After we have tried so many things I think all we can do is laugh about it and this is where a satire comes in and seems fitting.
In the conclusion I will tell how the government is overthrown and there is free gas for everyone and everyone lives happily ever after. I think this is fitting because in all American fairy tales there is a happily ever after.
I struggled a lot on an idea and I could really use some advice so if you have any please let me know because I’m still not sure if I understand the idea completely.
